Preschool 3’s
In the Preschool 3’s classroom students play to learn. It is through play and active exploration that the children develop socially and intellectually. Through pretend play they learn about family, work, relationship, feelings, and friendship. Language develops through stories, songs, rhymes and games. Through books they learn to value literacy, and begin to explore the use of print. Experiences with the physical world give children many different sensory, manipulative and creative opportunities. There are blocks, puzzles, sand, rice and water play, painting, drawing, beading, and gardening. These explorations teach students about cause and effect, encourage development of fine motor skills and lay the foundation for mathematical thinking. Children in this class have weekly Spanish, music, and P. E. classes. In the Preschool 3's, the children are the curriculum and there is so much to learn. The general curriculum occurs in the morning, and afternoon students take naps. Students may attend 2 days (TTH), 3 days (MWF), or 5 days, either all day or mornings only.
