Parents

Parent Participation

The Seed encourages parents to take an active part in their child’s school experience in order to make it a true community for learning. They are encouraged to share their many talents and are valued as a rich source of information.

Parents contribute by teaching special classes, such as Art Masterpiece, participating in the classroom, donating materials or resources, driving on field trips, and serving on the Board of Directors. The Awakening Seed Parents’ Association sponsors the annual Halloween Carnival each year, in addition to other fundraising activities and parent support services.

Awakening Seed Parents Association (APA)

The APA is the Seed’s parent organization, which functions similar to Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in other learning institutions. The function of the APA is two-fold:

  • Fundraising: Money goes to the Scholarship Fund, supplies and equipment for the school and bonuses for the teachers and staff.
  • Service and support: Parents coordinate special events and offerings such as volunteering to be a Room Representative, Halloween Carnival, Scholastic Book Fair, spring picnic, yearbook, T-shirt sales, and much more.
