Parent Participation
The Seed encourages parents to take an active part in their child’s school experience in order to make it a true community for learning. They are encouraged to share their many talents and are valued as a rich source of information.
Parents contribute by teaching special classes, such as Art Masterpiece, participating in the classroom, donating materials or resources, and serving on the Board of Directors. The Awakening Seed Parents’ Association sponsors the Fall Festival each year, in addition to other fundraising activities and parent support services.
Awakening Seed Parents Association (APA)
The APA is the Seed’s parent organization, which functions similar to Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in other learning institutions. The core values of the APA are as follows:
-
- Community Building
- Inclusivity
- Sustainability: thinking carefully about supplies used at events (recyclable/compostable), etc.
- Staff Support: supporting the needs of the teachers and school, making things easier when we can
- Family Support
