This day 25 years ago was one of the most unforgettable in all of the Seed’s history. It was the day the World Trade Center in New York was destroyed by terrorists, and the concept of impermanence took on a whole new meaning. It was a day when we all questioned our safety and developed a new relationship with uncertainty. I remember so many parents and children asking if we were safe, and not having an answer to their question.
On September 11, 2001, I was a classroom teacher, in addition to my director responsibilities. The attack on the World Trade Center deeply affected my 4th and 5th graders. A small section of the wall painting our class made that year included the Twin Towers with a plane approaching the first tower. Although it’s faded in the last 25 years, it remains there, as part of our collective history as Americans and members of the Seed community.

May this day be a reminder of the fragility of our lives, and also the bravery required to be of service to humanity, in whatever form it may manifest.
