Love is in the air. Children dressed in heart-themed clothing are moving about the school with immense excitement. Today is abuzz with enthusiasm for celebrating Valentine’s Day a few days early, due to parent/teacher conferences on Thursday and Friday. The hallway is full of decorations and bags to hold valentines delivered by students to each other. The love and kindness we cultivate all year round are visible on this day.
It’s also a time of celebration in a different way. The lead teachers have been working diligently in the last few weeks to assess students and prepare a progress report for each child. In the next two days, teachers will meet with each child’s parent(s) to share celebrations of their child’s growth in the past few months. Additionally, it will be an opportunity to discuss areas where there is room for growth. When room for growth is mentioned, we try to view it not as a deficiency or problem, but truly as a way forward for a child to reach their full potential. We’re also proponents of early intervention, a practice we’ve advocated for over many years.
Parent/teacher conferences are also chance for parents to experience how seen their child is at the Seed. It’s a time for everyone to remember that we’re a team, and it takes a village to raise a child. As always, we’re deeply honored by the opportunity to serve as the school of choice for all of our students.
